This October, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Asian Women’s Shelter invites you to IGNITE — our community-led campaign to power SFAWS’s next year of culturally responsive, survivor-centered work to end violence and generate community safety.

Instead of our traditional gala, we’re doing something different: a grassroots fundraising effort to raise $200,000 to sustain vital programs through a year of deep uncertainty. Cuts to federal, state, and local funding are threatening critical survivor services — but our greatest strength has always been our community.

When we come together, we can fuel safety, hope, and healing for survivors — and power through any storm.

HOST your own Asian Women’s Shelter Hearthkeeper gathering of any kind during October (a BBQ? Book Club meeting? Dumpling party? Happy hour hangout or afternoon tea at your house?) to ignite your own powerhouse of support for survivors accessing Asian Women’s Shelter. Email here if you want to learn more, and we’ll send you an SFAWS Hearthkeeper Guide. If you decide to host a gathering, we’ll send you a Hearthkeeper Kit to help you share about SFAWS while having a fun get-together with your people. It could be 3-5 people you invite. It could be 50. The design is fully in your hands!

GATHER online from 6-7pm PT on October 30th to celebrate our collective impact and future at Asian Women’s Shelter. A donation at any level unlocks the online event for you. You’ll receive a link during the week of October 30th.

IGNITE is already sparking community! An author is hosting a virtual fireside chat for her book launch, a local musician is turning their birthday into a musical gala, and both new and longtime supporters are opening their homes for SFAWS gatherings big and small.
