This extensive support is made possible by our nationally
recognized Multi-Lingual Access Model (MLAM) Program. AWS
recruits bilingual, bicultural women from un-served and underserved
communities to become paid language advocates (MLAMs) and
facilitate critical services for our clients. Serving as a
communication bridge between advocates and residents, they provide
emotional support for residents and accompany them to important
meetings, such as immigration or medical appointments, court
hearings, and legal proceedings. We also provide
training to help other organizations across the country replicate
this program.
Additionally, AWS is lead agency for San Francisco's city-wide
MLAM program, providing services to seven anti-violence agencies
including Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach (APILO),
Brennan House, Clara House, Gum Moon Women's Residence, Narika, Rosalie House and WOMAN, Inc.
