AWS offers a unique opportunity to its valued volunteer staff. All of our volunteers are trained and licensed as California-certified domestic-violence counselors. They are encouraged by AWS to bring their unique interests, talents, and skills to the shelter and its programs. Due to the consensus-based work method of AWS, volunteers can have a significant impact at AWS. We pride ourselves on being run by and for the community — and our volunteers bring healing, diversity, and hope to our work empowering women and eradicating violence.
